ICG Assistant Commandant Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
General Duty (GD): Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate with Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to 12th standard (10+2+3 pattern). Candidates who have completed graduation after diploma, are also eligible to apply
Technical
- Mechanical: Engineering degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, or related disciplines.
- Electrical/Electronics: Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, or related disciplines.
- Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level are mandatory for all candidates.
Age Limit
- Minimum: 21 years
- Maximum: 25 years (as of July 1, 2025)
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates – 5 Years , OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 3 Years , Serving Coast Guard personnel – Additional 5 Years
Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Selection Process
- Stage I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT) – Computer-based online test
- Stage II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB) – Cognitive Battery Test and participate in a Picture Perception and Group Discussion
- Stage III: Final Selection Board (FSB) in Noida – Psychological test, Group tasks, and Interview
- Stage IV: Medical Examination at Base Hospital in Delhi
- Merit List Preparation: Based on combined performance in CGCAT and FSB .
Selected candidates join the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala for a 44-week orientation course and comprehensive training.
