Educational Qualification for SAIL Recruitment through GATE 2022:
Degree in Engineering with 65% marks (average of all semesters, irrespective of the weightage given to any particular year by the Institute/ University), in any of the seven (7) Engineering disciplines of Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electrical, Chemical, Civil Instrumentation, and Mining.

The candidate must requisite qualification through a regular/ full-time course from recognized Universities/Institutions. These Institutions/Universities must have received accreditation from government councils such as UGC/AICTE, to name a few. The Central or State Government set up these councils for such purposes.
Mode of Selection
The candidates who have appeared in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 examination are eligible to apply for these vacancies. Candidates who apply for SAIL will be shortlisted based on their performance in the relevant GATE 2022 examination paper and the companys requirements.

Group Discussion and Interview
From among those who qualify for the GATE-2022 paper, candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion (GD) and interview in the ratio of 1: 12 for each discipline, category-wise, in order of merit.
In case, two or more candidates are coining on the same cut-off point in the final merit list, the candidate who has secured higher marks in the written test receives the offer letter. In case, there is also a tie in the written test marks, the SAIL Recruitment team selects the candidate with higher marks in eligibility qualification i.e., relevant B.E./B.Tech. degree.
To be eligible for GD and Interview call, a candidate will have to qualify in the respective discipline by scoring a minimum 50 percentile score for unreserved posts in the respective category. In the case of SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD candidates, the qualifying marks is 40 percentile score.
Training & Probation for SAIL Recruitment
Candidates selected as Management Trainees (Technical) will be placed on training for one year. The respective department registers the Management Trainees (Technical) as Apprentices under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. Once the selected candidates complete the required training, they will be placed on probation for one year.
Emoluments
The Management Trainees (Technical) will be offered Basic Pay of Rs.50,000/- per month in the pay scale of Rs 50000-1,60000/-.
On successful completion of training of one year, the Management Trainees (Technical) will be designated as Assistant Manager and placed in the scale of pay of Rs. 60,000-1,80,000/-.
Besides Basic Pay, the Management Trainees (Technical) will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA). They will also be entitled to perquisites under the cafeteria approach and benefits such as PF, Gratuity, and other allowances as per the rules of the Company in vogue. In addition, the company provides benefits like Housing/HRA, leave encashment, and free medical facility for self and dependents as per company rules.
The CTC of the selected candidates at minimum E-1 grade will be approximately Rs. 16 Lakhs per annum. This excludes PRP and location-based allowances, etc. As the candidate is direct recruitment on initial basic pay, the company will not bear any liability on account of salary, leave salary, pension contribution, etc. of previous employment, if any.
Placement
If selected, the candidates can receive a posting to any plant/unit location of the company. The candidates will not be allowed to seek or apply for transfer to any other plant/unit location of the SAIL for initial four years of service. For departmental candidates, this restriction will be applicable for the initial two years.
